Hey! I am Michael.
I was born in Pritzwalk (Germany) in 1987 and grew up there. When I was about 10 years old, my parents gave me an analogue compact camera. With it I made my very first steps in photography and I had some nice snapshots of friends or school trips.
I started to really burn for photography when I was 13 years old. Back then, I got an analogue SLR camera for Christmas. I read many books dealing with different areas of photography, rode my bike out into nature to take landscape photos or did various photographic experiments such as double exposures, analog film development, etc.
I quickly became known as “the photographer” among my friends and at parties I was the one who captured the moments for everyone else.
When I was 16, I asked a photographer in my hometown about training as a photographer. The photographer told me that it is difficult to get an apprenticeship in the field and that I better forget the idea of becoming a photographer.
I gave up my dream for a while, graduated from high school and then moved to Berlin. During a short holiday in Barcelona, my analogue SLR camera was stolen.
As a poor student, I couldn’t afford a high-quality digital SLR camera back then, so I bought a Nikon Coolpix. Pretty nice for taking some holiday snaps, but nothing that could fulfill my creative needs.
I lost sight of photography for a few years until the good camera on my cell phone made me want to take more photos again. I bought a DSLM camera which allows me to capture the true beauty of the landscapes, nature and people around me in my photos.
In my work as a photographer, it is particularly important to me to capture the natural beauty of my models and authentic moments. That’s why I prefer to photograph people where they feel most comfortable. At home, on the beach or in nature.
